2010 NEWS UPDATE: Houmayoun competed in the 2008 RDS Thoroughbred Stallion Class and finished a fit and fantastic 5th. He enjoyed it so much we went back again in 2009. He thoroughly enjoyed himself & it is a credit to him at the fine old age of 22 that he can still be competitive at Irelands premier stallion venue.
Bred by the Aga Kahn from a classic French Family, Houmayoun is the only Group 1 Winning son of Shernazar. A Gr.1 Performer at 2 years of age, a Classic winner at 3 & a DERBY WINNER before retiring to Stud. Houmayoun won the Group 1 Italian Derby in record time of 4 & 1/2 lengths and this remained unbeaten for 15 years. He was a winner at Longchamp and placed in Gr.1 at Criterium de St.Cloud as well as wins in USA. He was a winner from 7 to 10 Furlongs and during his illustrious career he won over £200,000
He has bred winners on the flat, National Hunt and Point to point with Yearlings selling in the Ring for over £40,000.00 stg.

The Irish Horse Board were looking for thoroughbred sires with proven jumping performance bloodlines that would make themselves available to the Sports Horse Industry so in 1996 the IHR Fully Approved him. His Busted/Crepello bloodlines have long established links with the breeding of world class eventers in Ireland. And true to form Houmayoun has Eventers, showjumpers & show winning stock to his credit.
